Collingswood is a community fortunate in having several excellent Italian restaurants with Sapori Trattoria standing out as a destination restaurant to celebrate a special occasion, or for a special romantic dining experience.
This restaurant is a notch above the many other Collingswood area Italian restaurants ---- especially in offering creative, non-traditional Italian - American dishes.
Sapori Trattoria is in an attractive setting with a medieval castle ambience. The rustic 64 seat dining area is done up with stone floors, rustic brick walls adorned with large lion head sconces, wrought iron balconies and chocolate dark brown velvet drapes across windows tied back with heavy satin roping. The lighting is dimly lit emanating from globular chandeliers strewn throughout the dining room. Background Italian music enhances the feeling of being in Italy.
Owned and operated by Chef Franco Lombardo, born in Palermo, Italy, he honed his cooking skills both as a chef in Italy and at the well-known La Locanda Del Ghiottone restaurant in Philadelphia before opening Sapori Trattoria.
Chef Franco Lombardo runs a kitchen that prepares a carefully crafted, creative menu. This is not a typical traditional red sauce southern Italian restaurant.
Many of the meat dishes use grass fed, all-natural veal, beef, and chicken. Most of the cheeses are imported from Italy, and pastas are homemade.
Sapori Trattoria is flexible and is willing to create a special dish if you do not see it on the menu. Just ask! Vegetarian friendly and gluten free options are available.
The dining experience at Sapori Trattoria ends on a thoughtful, positive note with a complimentary shot of chocolate limoncello.
During the warmer months there is outdoor dining on the patio.
Sapori trattoria is open six nights/week for dinner. Closed Tuesday
