River Winds restaurant is one of Gloucester County's most elegant and upscale restaurants and is known as the go-to place in southwest Jersey for scenic waterfront views of the south Philly skyline to celebrate a special occasion or to have a drink and meet up with friends.
With the large windows opening onto awesome waterfront views, it is a perfect place for a romantic evening meal for two if you are willing to forgo some quiet conversation for the romantic ambiance.
The main dining room has an "Old World" upscale ambiance with a very spacious layout and features hand-blown glass chandeliers, quartz walls, and large windows looking out over the south Philly waterfront and the Delaware River. There are other private dining rooms available for private parties.
During the warmer months there is outdoor dining the attractive patio with seating for 120 complete a few large fire pits where you can enjoy a night cap and watch the sunset. and later the darkened waterfront skyline.
The restaurant's ownership and management have a successful background of diner ownership. The current owners are Helena Balis, Foti Farmakis and George Drakos. Helena Balis still owns the Hollywood Café Diner in Woodbury Heights.
The menu is new American in style and features many steak and seafood selections with some Asian and Italian influenced dishes. They are vegetarian friendly, with vegan and gluten free options. While they use fresh ingredients in their food preparation, the creativity and the quality of ingredients are a notch above banquet quality.
While the desserts are sumptuous, they are not made on the premises and are sourced from tasty Country Sweets Bakery Shoppe in Woodbury.
On a tight budget? For a inexpensive meal, they offer a "House Selections" entrees Menu at an affordable price.
