Pet Friendly Jersey Shore Beach Towns

Asbury Park - 8th Ave Dog Beach

This dog friendly beach is located at the extreme northern edge of Asbury Park --- north of the signs saying surfers only and north of the retirement home.
The beach is open for pets. During the summer from May 16 to September 14, dogs are permitted in the evenings and early mornings from 6 p.m. to 8:30 a.m only. After September 14th, there are no restrictions

Fisherman's Cove Conservation Area - Manasquan

A 52 acre tract on the Manasquan Inlet. It is used for fishing, walking on the beach and sunbathing. A portion of the beach is designated as dog free. Dog owners can enjoy the front (east) portion of the beach while the back (west) portion of the beach is preserved for other beach activities. Dogs must be on-leash everywhere in the park

Barnegat Light Dog Park

The Barnegat Light Dog Park is on the north end of Long Beach Island in Barnegat Light, NJ. This pup recreation area features a double-gated entrance and dually functions as a ball field. All dog park users must obtain a dog park gate entry card and dog park tag.

Brigantine Beach Dog Park

Located at 42nd Street & Bayshore Avenue

A one-time application with a fee of $25 per year is required for each dog entering the park and can be found at the City Clerk's office.

Cape May Dog Parks

Cape May is a dog friendly Jersey Shore resort town with muliple dog parks and and a dog friendly beaches.
Dogs are permitted on Cape May City Beaches during the months of November, December, January, February and March.
The Higbee Beach Wildlife Management Area allows dogs from September 1 to April 30.
Cape May Point Beaches allows dogs from November 1 through March 14.
Sunset Beach allows dogs September 15 to April 15.

Island Beach State Park

Sandy Hook (Gateway National Park)

Gateway National Park at Sandy Hook is a 'dog friendly' beach on the Inlet side of the Hook but your dogs must be leashed at all times. The Sandy Hook Bay side of the park is ideal for pets. Leashed dogs are allowed year-round at Plum Island and Horseshoe Cove. Pets afe not allowed on ocean-side beaches between March 15 and September 15.

Wildwood Dog Park Beach

Located between Glenwood and Maple Avenues in Wldwood, NJ. The dog park is open daily, and the dog beach is open from dawn to dusk. Fresh water and clean up bags are available on site.

Tips for a Pet Friendly Boat Ride


The general rule is that dogs are not allowed on the touring boats, though they are allowed on watercraft rentalswith no additional fee
