The Standard restaurant, located in the restored historic American Hotel in Freehold, is a hotel with a storied history since the 19th century, is the centerpiece of downtown Freehold, and is one of the popular spots for meeting friends for drinks and dinner in downtown Freehold.

The Standard is owned and operated by Great Restaurants NJ Hospitality Group which also operates Nonnas Citi Cucina & Rosalitas Roadside Cantina, in Marlboro, and The Metropolitan Cafe and The TRE restaurants in Freehold.

The menu is well-executed and offers a variety of steaks, seafood, and bistro-style dishes.

The decor is upscale contemporary, with a romantic vibe. The decor features polished wood flooring and white linen tables.

The bar is also attractively done up with hanging lamps, wood flooring, and display TVs. 

It's one of the top downtown Freehold spots for happy hour. The bar scene is energetic and professional, with a large part of the bar crowd coming from the many law firms scattered through this Monmouth County Seat.

The bar scene is especially energetic on Friday evenings from 6 - 8 pm. A popular Freehold spot for 55+ singles

The wait staff at the Standard is friendly and attentive.

During the warmer months, there is outdoor dining on the sidewalk patio.

They offer free valet parking for dining guests after 4 pm, Thursday through Saturday.

The Standard is open daily for lunch and dinner until 9:00 pm and offers an a la carte brunch on Sundays.
